1. Scope of this policy

AJK Media, Inc. (“AJK Media,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates AJK Media’s corporate website and the consumer legal-information platforms Divorce.law, Bankruptcy.law, Criminal.law, and DUI.law. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and safeguard information when you use those websites, tools, communications, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

A platform may provide additional privacy notices for a particular product or feature. If a platform-specific notice conflicts with this policy, the more specific notice controls for that product or feature.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

• Contact information, such as your name, email address, telephone number, organization, and message.
• Location information you choose to provide, such as state, province, county, region, or city.
• Search queries, filters, legal-topic selections, and preferences.
• Information submitted through attorney inquiries, partnership inquiries, feedback, or correction requests.
• Account, profile, and business information if you register as an attorney, law firm, advertiser, or partner.
• Correspondence and any other information you choose to send us.

AI assistants, planning tools, calculators, and resources

Where offered, we collect conversations with Victoria or another AI-assisted experience; information entered into Roadmaps, planners, checklists, and guided tools; calculator inputs and results; and resources you request. These features provide general legal information, not legal advice. You decide what to share, including whether to provide sensitive information about a legal or financial situation.

We may store, review, and use these interactions to provide, secure, evaluate, and improve the Services. Information submitted to AJK Media or an AI feature is not protected by attorney-client privilege.

Paid products

When a platform offers a paid product, we may collect contact information, transaction identifiers, access records, product-entitlement information, and usage counts needed to deliver and secure access. Payments are handled by third-party payment processors, such as Stripe. We do not store full payment-card numbers.

Information collected automatically

• Log data, including IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring URL, and timestamps.
• Device information, including operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
• Approximate location derived from an IP address.
• Cookie, local-storage, analytics, and similar technology data, subject to applicable consent requirements.

3. How we use information

• Provide, maintain, personalize, secure, and improve the Services.
• Deliver requested resources, tools, account access, and transactional communications.
• Respond to consumer, attorney, media, technology, and corporate inquiries.
• Connect a consumer with an independent attorney when the consumer affirmatively requests that connection.
• Administer attorney profiles, advertising placements, subscriptions, and partner relationships.
• Measure usage, diagnose problems, prevent fraud or misuse, and protect platform integrity.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.

4. Email and communication choices

If you request a resource, create a Roadmap, use a paid product, submit a form, or subscribe to updates, we may send the communication you requested and related transactional messages. Where permitted, we may also send platform updates or educational communications you have chosen to receive.

We may measure delivery, opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes, and spam reports to operate and improve our communications. You can unsubscribe from marketing messages through the link in any such email. Essential transactional messages may continue when necessary to provide something you requested.

5. How we disclose information

We do not sell personal information to third parties for monetary consideration. We may disclose information in the following circumstances:

• Independent attorneys—with your consent. We share contact information and a relevant inquiry or planning summary only when you affirmatively request an attorney handoff or submit an inquiry to a particular attorney or law firm.
• Service providers. Vendors may process information for hosting, analytics, communications, payment processing, security, customer support, and other operational services under appropriate contractual restrictions.
• Within the AJK Media portfolio. We may process information across AJK Media systems when necessary to operate a shared account, technology layer, support function, or requested cross-platform service.
• Aggregate or de-identified reporting. We may provide metrics such as impressions, clicks, subscriber counts, or jurisdiction-level activity to attorneys, sponsors, or advertisers. These reports do not identify an individual or disclose individualized legal details.
• Legal and safety reasons. We may disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, security, or the integrity of the Services.
• Business transactions. Information may be transferred in connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable law.

6. Cookies, analytics, and tracking

Our Services may use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies for security, preferences, performance, and analytics. Where required, we obtain consent before using non-essential technologies.

We use analytics services, including PostHog where enabled, to understand matters such as pages viewed, referring source, campaign parameters, approximate location, and device or browser information. You can manage cookies through available consent controls and your browser settings.

7. Data retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing the Services, maintaining business and transaction records, resolving disputes, securing the platforms, and complying with law. Unless a longer period is needed for one of those purposes, inquiry data is generally retained for up to 24 months and analytics data for up to 26 months.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, portability, or information about our processing; object to or restrict certain processing; or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and legal exceptions may apply.

California residents

California residents may have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, including rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of certain sale or sharing, limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and receive equal service when exercising privacy rights. We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration. Certain advertising-cookie activity, if enabled, may qualify as “sharing” under California law.

Canadian residents

Canadian residents may have rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and applicable provincial laws, including access, correction, and withdrawal of consent subject to legal or contractual restrictions. Quebec residents may also have rights under Law 25, including portability and, in qualifying circumstances, de-indexation.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, and destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children’s privacy

The Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and address the issue.

11. Third-party services

The Services may link to independent websites or use third-party services. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and AJK Media is not responsible for those practices.
